Tivoli Gardens Park – Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen, Denmark – Amalienborg Museum in the Palace of Christian VIII, Little Mermaid, Kastellet, Marmorkirken / Church of marble and something extra: Tivoli Gardens Park - an ideal place to take your family or girlfriend to visit. It is one of the oldest amusement parks in the world and Walt Disney’s inspiration for Disneyland. The park was opened on August 15 in 1843. Initially, it was named Tivoli & Vauxhall. It was done so on one hand to hint at Tivoli Gardens in Paris and the name of the locality Tivoli near Rome and on the other hand to hint at the Vauxhall Gardens in London. Georg Carstensen was the one who initiated the project. He argued the usefulness of the park in front of King Cristian VIII in an extremely pragmatic way, saying "when people have fun, they no longer think of politics".
